How to write a good sheet
Tone
Assertive. Plain words. No filler, no sensationalism. Short sentences in an emergency, longer ones to explain.
The two structures
Urgent topic — Act, then Adapt, then Understand. The reader has no time: they act first.
Non-urgent topic: Understand, then Act, then Adapt. The right move comes from the mechanism.
Write the section titles like this: ## ACT, ## UNDERSTAND, ## ADAPT.
The “Understand” part
Explain the mechanism, not just the fact. The reader should be able to work out what to do in a case your sheet doesn't describe. That's what separates a useful sheet from a list of instructions.
Tags
They don't classify the sheet: they guide the reader according to their situation.
- Time — Flash (minutes), Short (hours), Long (days or more)
- Context — Alone, Two people, Group
- Risk — Discreet, Exposed
- Gear — None, Salvage, Technical
Sources
Prefer primary sources: health agencies, scientific institutions, technical manuals, peer-reviewed papers. On topics where a mistake hurts people, a sheet without sources won't be added.
Links
Link your sheet to others with the ID between double brackets: [[URG-EAU-001]]. Put them in the text, where the reader needs them. A lone sheet is an article; a linked sheet is a path.
Topics
All of them, as long as the quality is there. Phenix is not just a survival database: an engine, a plant, a craft, a period of history, a cooking or building method all belong here.
